01 — Editorial Standards

Standards of the Record.

Itaron Journal operates under a defined set of editorial principles. Every piece of content published here follows the same process: topic selection, source verification, editorial review, and a final accuracy pass before publication. This page describes that process in full.

Foundation

Why a methodology matters for a supplement journal

The men's nutrition space is unusually crowded with opinion that masquerades as evidence. A great deal of content published under the banner of "wellness" arrives without a stated source, a disclosure of commercial interest, or any description of how the author arrived at their conclusions. Itaron Journal was founded, in part, as a response to that pattern.

This publication is an independent editorial resource exploring everyday supplementation habits, nutritional awareness, and active lifestyle choices for men. The publication is not affiliated with any commercial, governmental, or institutional body.

The methodology described below is not aspirational — it describes the actual process followed by every writer and editor who contributes to these pages. It is published here so that readers can hold the publication to account if standards slip.

The Process
01

Topic Selection

Topics are proposed against a standing editorial brief focused on everyday supplementation habits for active men. The brief is reviewed quarterly. Topics are rejected if they require the use of vocabulary that falls outside the publication's editorial boundaries, or if they cannot be addressed without reference to specialised professional contexts.

02

Source Identification

Writers are expected to identify published nutritional research as the foundation for any factual claim. Where a peer-reviewed source is available, that source is noted in the writer's working draft. Where only industry-funded research exists, that context is disclosed in the article body. Anecdotal observations are clearly labelled as such.

03

First Editorial Review

Every draft is reviewed by the primary editor before it moves forward. The first-review checklist covers: factual accuracy against sources, adherence to editorial tone, vocabulary compliance with the publication's content standards, and internal consistency with previously published material on the same subject.

04

Second-Editor Accuracy Pass

Itaron Journal operates under the following editorial principles: articles are reviewed by at least one second editor before publication, sources are cited where appropriate, corrections are noted publicly, and writers disclose any commercial relationships that could influence their selection of subject matter.

05

Disclosure Review

Before publication, the editor checks whether the contributing writer has any commercial relationship with a brand, retailer, or product mentioned in the article. If such a relationship exists, a disclosure note is appended to the article. Affiliate links, where used, are clearly labelled. Writers who decline to provide disclosure information are not published.

06

Post-Publication Corrections

When a factual error is identified after publication — by a reader, a source, or an editor — a correction is noted at the top of the affected article with a brief description of what was changed and when. Articles are not quietly amended. The original date of publication and the date of correction are both recorded in the article metadata.

Source Standards

What counts as a reliable source

Content published by Itaron Journal is selected based on published nutritional research and reviewed for editorial accuracy by a second editor before publication.

The following source hierarchy is observed across all articles.

TIER 1
Peer-reviewed nutritional journals

The strongest foundation for factual claims. Authors are expected to identify the specific publication and year of any study referenced. Where a study has been retracted or substantially challenged, that context is noted.

TIER 2
Independent nutrition bodies and dietary guidelines

Dietary reference values issued by independent national nutrition bodies. These are used to contextualise recommended intake ranges and daily nutritional targets without overstating certainty.

TIER 3
Industry publications with disclosed funding

Where industry-funded research is the only available source on a subject, it may be cited with a clear notation of its funding origin. No claim is built solely on commercially funded data without corroboration from an independent source.

TIER 4
Editorial observation and personal record

First-person field notes and observational writing are clearly labelled as such. They are not presented as evidence-based claims. This material is published for its perspective value and is not used to support factual assertions about nutritional outcomes.
